Primark entrance closed off to shoppers after light malfunction

The door to a major city centre store was closed off to shoppers after an issue over its entrance sign.

Visitors hoping to use the door from Primark into The Bridges, on High Street West in Sunderland, or reach it from inside the centre found the shutters down this afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the centre said a bulb in the shop's sign had gone, with the closure put in place as a precaution.

Shoppers could still enter the centre through all other doorways and reach Primark's shop floor from the street entrance.
