A planning application has been submitted to South Tyneside Council for the former Pizza Hut unit at the Boldon Entertainment complex, off Abingdon Way.

The plans, which were formally registered on March 28, aim to create a ‘Tim Hortons drive thru restaurant and cafe’ at the site.

This includes the installation of a drive-thru lane and associated engineering works, such as alterations to car parking and servicing arrangements.

In addition, minor changes are planned for the building, including new cladding.

The advert said: “Tim Hortons are going through a period of exponential growth, with the aim to open an outlet in every town and city throughout the UK over the next two years, there has never been a better time to join and grow your career.

“A quick service restaurant with a difference, Tim Hortons are all about great food, coffee and sweet treats served with a warm and friendly approach.

“With over 4,000 stores and two billion cups of coffee freshly brewed worldwide, there has never been a better time to join Tim Hortons.”

A decision on the proposed Boldon store will be made by South Tyneside Council following a period of consultation.

Members of the public can follow the progress of the application or share their views by visiting the council’s planning portal and searching reference ST/0061/21/FUL

Comments on the plans will be accepted until the end of Sunday, April 18.
