A planning hearing over the rejected bid for a controversial gasification plant in Wearside is taking place at the Stadium of Light.
Developers are hoping to overturn councillors’ decision to refuse planning permission for what they say is a ‘tried and tested’ technology which would help power Nissan and boost Sunderland’s economy.
But objectors have raised a raft of concerns and will be making the case for the appeal to be thrown out.
