Plans for new gym in former village shop

Durham County Council received a planning application for the Co-operative Buildings off Cotsford Lane, Horden, in June 2020.

This included a change of use bid to convert the first floor space into a gym.

According to planning documents, the site was formerly used as a clothes shop.

Floor plans submitted with the new proposals include both entrance and waiting areas, a boxing gym and a base for business Top Gym.

A decision on the plans is expected by early September following consultation.

Comments can be made by writing to the council’s planning department up until Thursday, July 30.

Planning officers will examine comments and pull together a report before a decision is made on the proposals.
