Politicians need to support our troops

General Sir Frank Kitson, 91, was a commander in Northern Ireland during the troubles.

He is now a victim of what I consider to be a witch hunt against former soldiers (of which I am one).

I remember the general being quartered with his family under heavy military police guard in our camp in Wiltshire in the seventies because of a IRA threat.

Will our politicians go after those who waged psychological warfare on him or will they continue to support our troops like the general who were only doing their duty.

If anyone is to be taken to court it is the government which sent soldiers to do a police job for which they were not trained.

I served twice in Northern Ireland and is it really fair that I have to worry about this?
