At 7pm on Friday night a car was broken into in Margate Street in Silksworth.

Among the items stolen was prescribed medication - morphine both in table form and liquid , amitriptyline and liquid naproxen.

A Northumbria :Police statement said: "We are currently investigating a report of stolen medication from Silksworth, Sunderland.

"A substantial amount of medication has been stolen and may cause serious harm if ingested.

"If you have any information please contact us on 101 quoting incident 1047 24/02/18."
