Police searching for missing popular antique shop owner from Sunderland find body

Officers searching for a well-known shop owner have confirmed they have found a body.

Northumbria Police, which has been leading the search for David Whitfield, have today said their colleagues with North Yorkshire Police had made the discovery.

A police spokesman said: "The family of David Whitfield have been informed."

Mr Whitfield, owner of the The Old Curiosity Shope and House Clearance Specialist in Roker Baths Road, in Sunderland, was last seen at his home address in the city on Monday, November 28.

During the inquiry, police said the 56-year-old, who had also written a book, was believed to be in the North Yorkshire area.
