Police renew appeal for missing woman who was last seen in Sunderland

Police are continuing to appeal for a missing woman - one week after she was last seen on Wearside.

Janet Davis, 65, was last seen in Stockton Road in Ryhope, Sunderland, on Thursday, January 28.

She is originally from Hexham in Northumberland however it is thought she could be anywhere in the country.

She is described as being tall with grey hair - her hair was in a ponytail when she was last seen.

She was last seen wearing a burgundy coloured jumper, purple coat and black trousers. She had a grey handbag with her.

Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries to locate her.

They have been viewing CCTV in the area she was last seen and speaking to people who knew her. However, despite enquiries Janet remains missing.

Detective Inspector Paul Stewart said: "We're becoming increasingly concerned for Janet's welfare and are urging anyone who may have information about where she is to please come forward and pass this information on to us.

"Janet was last seen in the Ryhope area of Sunderland, however, we believe she could be anywhere in the country and possible be in a vehicle - although we do not what the vehicle is and would ask car hire company's who may have hired a car to someone fitting Janet's description to get in contact".
