Officers are carrying out enquiries into the incident and are appealing for any witnesses.

It's thought the vehicle is a silver/grey small hatchback-type vehicle and that there were two men inside, although this has not been confirmed.

Northumbria Police now say that two men, both aged 18, voluntarily attended a police station on Sunday evening.

Inquiries are on-going and police are continuing to appeal for information.
