Police find cannabis farm hidden in the loft of a house

A man has been arrested after a cannabis farm was found in the loft of a house on Tyneside.

The Vietnamese national was arrested on Wednesday night after the police raid in Gateshead.

Officers from the Gateshead East Neighbourhood Team uncovered a cannabis farm in the loft of a house in Asher Street, Felling.

Around 150 plants were seized by officers and have been sent away to be destroyed.

The man who was arrested was charged with producing a controlled drug.

Inquiries are ongoing into the find and anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference number 1068 11/05/16.
