Officers were called to Edgmond Court, in Hollycarrside, at 1.40pm on Monday after reports that a window had been shot at.

Northumbria Police described it as "an isolated incident between people who are known to each other".

Chief Inspector Paul Milner said: "Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident. It is an isolated incident but we do recognise members of the community may be concerned and Id like to reassure them we have extra officers in the area, which will continue."
