Police called to Sunderland home to assist paramedics after ambulance call out

Officers were called to St Luke’s Road at around 7am today, June 23, to assist ambulance crews who were trying to help a man who had suffered a ‘medical episode’.

The man had turned aggressive towards the paramedics, but after police arrived he went on to recieve treatment at the address before being taken to hospital.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Police received a call of assistance from the ambulance service on St Luke’s Road in Sunderland

"At around 7.20am officers attended where a man had suffered a medical episode but had become aggressive towards ambulance crews.

“After the man was treated he was no longer being aggressive and was taken to hospital. No further police action was required.”

A North East Ambulance spokeswoman said: "We were called this morning around 7am to a medical incident at a private address in the St Luke’s Road area of Sunderland.

"Police also attended along with three of our own resources. We took one person to hospital."
