Police appealing for car crime witness to come forward

Police in Sunderland are appealing for a witness who alerted a victim her car was being broken into to get in contact.

The witness, a man, knocked on the door of a house in Penshaw Lane between 10.30pm and 10.55pm on Thursday, April 7, to tell the occupant he believed her car was being broken into.

He then left and the woman contacted police.

Officers are carrying out enquiries to identify the offender and are keen to speak to the witness as he may have more information that can help.

Police are also keen to hear from any local residents who have CCTV as it may help with enquiries.
