Police appeal after girl approached and caused distress by man at bus station

Police are looking to trace a man after a 13-year-old girl was approached at a bus station.

Officers have released an image of a man they would like to speak to as part of their investigation.

The incident took place at Park Lane Interchange, in Sunderland, on Wednesday, February 15.

Police say the girl was spoken to and caused distress some time between 5.20pm and 5.30pm, before the man got on the same bus as her.

A spokesman added: "A man spoke to a 13-year-old girl causing her distress.

"He then got on the same bus as the girl, causing her further distress.

"Officers are carrying out inquiries into the incident and are keen to speak to the man pictured as it's thought he was in the area at the time and may be able to help police with inquiries.

"The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to call 101 quoting reference 1003 150217."
