Peterlee and Horden - Down Your Way

Castle Eden Dene volunteers had a very large turnout for the Wednesday Working Group supervised by Paul. There was a special welcome to a new volunteer. They were tidying up around where they had been working, removing rhododendron, a truly invasive non-native species but the more you look, the more you found. Some of the rhododendron had trunks as thick as trees, one invading a trunk of a yew. They were ably dealt with the group who were also involved in the work over three sites creating spaces for native plant species to take over. They have been working hard over the past weeks preparing for the Spring.
