The Price of Everything will be held on Saturday at 7pm in Castle Eden Village Hall . These urgent questions –The Price of Everything, a performance lecture/stand-up storytelling show about value. Daniel Bye’s whistle stop tour of bizarre facts and extraordinary stories is occasionally shambolic and often misguided – but always a joy to watch. The Academy at Shotton Hall athletic under 13 cricket team competed at the Chance to Shine schools tournament. The girl’s team, made up of one Year 8 and nine Year 7 students, won all but one of their games and qualified for the School Games Final in July and the County Final later this year. The boys team, made up of four Year 7 and four Year 8, lost two of their games and just missed out on qualifying. The tournament took place at Peterlee Cricket Club and included teams from Seaham, Wellfield, St Bede’s, Easington, Dene and The Academy at Shotton Hall.

Creative Youth Opportunities had another fab night in Horden working with their friends at Dietwise. A parachute was commissioned made for Dietwise to test which everyone loved. Members made use of the park on a lovely night and had some good old fashioned fun as well as seeing, for the first time, the Dietwise smoothie book that the group developed recipes for.

East Durham College’s Houghall campus redevelopment hopes to open in September. The £12million project, the first major work to the site on this scale since its opening in 1938, sees the redevelopment of the iconic front building along with the construction of a number of new buildings to move facilities from the farm closer to the front part of the site. In the main building an internal social space has been created with walls removed and new stairs installed. An accessible lift has also been installed and a new reception area.The building will also feature two new labs and two new classrooms along with an IT suite. A new entrance way and porch is under construction and also new animal care building and kennels and new agricultural buildings almost complete. The new equine centre building work is gathering pace, the framework for the new indoor arena and stables has been built.

Creative Youth Opportunities are back to normal service at Horden Youth and Community Centre for Horden Young Citizens on Wednesdays from 5.30pm. It’s two hours of fun for 50p.

Shakespeare 18 is on at Lubetkin Theatre, East Durham College, on Thursday from 10.30am to 2.30pm. The 18 short extracts from Shakespeare, performed in cabaret style by Lubetkin Youth Theatre Group, is linked to 400th anniversary of his death. This event is part of the Let’s Create programme in partnership with East Durham Trust.

After the Peterlee Town Council annual general meeting held in May, the following appointments were agreed for the ensuing year May 2016 – May 2017: Mayor of Peterlee Councillor Mary Cartwright, consort Paul Cartwright; Deputy Mayor Councillor Steve Miles and Carol Miles.
