Inspire Peterlee features people from around the local area, including staff from East Durham College’s creative industries department, who are looking to celebrate the town’s history and help put arts in Peterlee on the map. The group has set out a five-year plan, where they aim to hold special events each year celebrating the town and major anniversaries, such as 70 years of Peterlee in 2018 and the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Pavilion in 2019. This year’s Peterlee Arts Festival was a 1960s inspired performances with students from the college putting on musical performances at the Apollo Pavilion as part of the celebrations.
