Remembrance Day falls on November 11 every year, with many services and parades taking place on Sunday, November 8 in 2026.
Here are just some of those services.
1. Sunderland War Memorial, Burdon Road
A parade will set off north of the war memorial on Sunday, November 8 at 10.35am before a service starts at 11am. Two field guns will be fired from the terrace in Mowbray Park to mark the start of the two-minute silence at 11am. This will be followed by wreath laying around the War Memorial and on the Memorial Wall. The service ends with a march past outside the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens. Photo: Contributed
2. Castletown Methodist Church, Castle View, Sunderland
Castletown Methodist Church is holding a Remembrance Day service on Sunday, November 8 from 10.30am until 11.15am. This will be followed by a march at the local cemetery to lay wreaths. Photo: Google Maps
3. Easington Lane War Memorial, Houghton-le-Spring
