Woman on mobility scooter hit by car while crossing road

A woman riding a mobility scooter has been left shaken after being hit by a car while crossing the road.

Police were called to Princess Road, Seaham, at around 3pm on March 11 to reports that a car had bumped the front of a mobility scooter.

It is understood that the driver stopped at the scene to check on the woman and left shortly after. Thankfully no one was injured.

Officers are now carrying out enquiries following the incident.

A Durham Constabulary spokeswoman said: “Police were called to reports of a collision involving a mobility scooter on Princess Road, Seaham, at around 3pm on March 11.

“It is thought the vehicle bumped the front of the scooter when the rider was crossing the road.

“Thankfully nobody was injured.”
