This video shows the moment the brave little Peterlee girl rang the bell to say she had finished her treatment for leukaemia.

Ultra proud and relieved mum Melissa posted on social media that it was a day they had longed for amid the craziness of the world at the moment.

She added: “The last few months have been a mixture of emotions for me, my husband Chris and daughter Poppy.

“We have waited two and a half years for Daisy to ring the bell. It has been a roller coaster of hospital appointments, treatment and unexpected admissions not to mention the mental anguish no parent wants to experience.”

Daisy was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in November 2017 at just 22 months old.

She has needed numerous trips to hospital since then and often had to stay in for up to three days at a time while she was treated.

Daisy is no stranger to the our JPI Media North East titles as she won our very own Best of Hartlepool Awards in 2018, when she was one of the winners in the Child of Courage category.

But now she has had even better news as she has won her battle with leukaemia.

Melissa added: “Daisy will still have regular bloody checks and remain under the oncology team for many years to come and will shortly undergo another surgery to remove her portacath which has been used to administer her chemotherapy.”

But she admitted that Daisy’s great news was “a little happiness in our crazy world at the moment.”
