Washington primary school closes for two weeks due to staffing issues caused by Covid

Albany Village Primary School is closed from today (Monday, November 16) to Friday, November 27, with pupils in Years 1 and 2 being told to self-isolate.
Parents are believed to have been told on Sunday evening (November 15) that the school, in Crossgill, due to ‘business continuity and staffing issues’.

Hide AdTogether for Children, which provides daily updates on schools experiencing full or partial closures due to reported cases of Covid-19, confirmed Albany Village Primary School is closed for two weeks.
Pupils in Years 1 and 2 have also been told to self-isolate.
An email to parents, which has been seen by the Echo, said: “Unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to close the school for 14 days.
"Due to Business Continuity and staffing issues we are now switching to remote learning.”

Hide AdIt later added: “We appreciate this has come late in the day but we have been working all weekend to come up with a solution to keep the school open whilst ensuring all the children on site remain safe.
"The safety of all our children on site is paramount and we hope that you understand this decision was not taken lightly but has been taken in the best interests of the children.”
