The Little Onion Club, based in Washington, wants to put a smile on the faces of residents at Donwell Care Home, Washington Manor Care Home and the Willowbrook residential complex.

The group is aiming to collect 180 boxes of biscuits – one for each resident in the three homes – and is hoping the generosity of people in the community will get it done.

The Little Onions Club is an inter-generational programme providing gardening activities and workshops for children and after a difficult year, everyone involved is keen to spread some positivity this Christmas.

Kim Scott, director at The Little Onion Club, said: “We’re hoping to be able to spread a little Christmas cheer, this year has been awful and even worse for our lovely residents who can't have visitors. We believe doing this helps bring some joy to residents but also teaches our children how to respect our older generation and what it means to give even a little bit of their time to someone else.

Community is so important, something I have learned from my time with The Little Onion Club especially. It’s the small things that matter, bringing a smile to their lovely faces and showing our kids how important that it is.”
