With temperatures expected to soar to around 25C on Friday, August 7, many families will be heading to the beach to enjoy a day in the sun.
But Sunderland Council is warning visitors not to leave any litter behind following appalling scenes of rubbish left on Seaburn and Roker Beaches earlier this summer.

Now Sunderland Council has warned that it does not want to see such scenes again in an early-morning message to the public on its Facebook page.
Urging people to use the new yellow bins placed along the seafront, the council said: “People are already visiting our beaches this morning as it is set to be scorchio, but please remember to be beach safe.
“We've got some lovely new bins on the beach for your rubbish, so please use them.
"Bin, or if the bin is full, take your rubbish home.”
