Two people in Sunderland have an extra reason to celebrate this New Year’s Eve after winning £1,000 each thanks to their postcode.

The Adelaide Close neighbours landed the windfall when SR1 2JN was announced as a People’s Postcode Lottery Daily Prize winner today.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt sent her well-wishes and said: “What an amazing way to end the year! Congratulations to our winners, I hope this surprise makes their New Year celebrations even more special.”

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £600 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Crisis which has received more than £5.7 million in funding thanks to players. The charity is dedicated to ending homelessness and throughout the year helps approximately 10,000 people in England, Scotland and Wales.
