The Sunderland teenagers who have cut off their hair to make wigs for youngsters battling illness

Three kindhearted teenagers have donated 33 inches of hair to make wigs for youngsters battling cancer and other illnesses.

Holly Grix, Felicity Cairns and Chloe Forster, all aged 16, have taken part in a dramatic hair cut in aid of the Little Princess Trust, a charity which makes wigs for poorly youngsters who lose their hair through illness.

The girls decided to get involved as part of their National Citizen Service social action project which has seen them think of different ways to help the community.

A team of dedicated NCS youngsters decided to support the Little Princess Trust through the charity hair cut which took place at Mowbray Park in Sunderland on Monday, August 12.

With permission from parents, the three girls each had 11 inches of hair cut off to make a total of six wigs.

Through their combined efforts the NCS team was able to raise more than £200 for the charity with sponsorship and donations.

Rowan Anderson, who is the leader of the NCs team called Sunderland Cohort 5 and Catch 22, said: “The team have done fantastically well.

“There are only 14 of them but they have raised £205 in just a day through doing the hair cut.

NCS member Emily Tinkler said: “My team would like to give special thanks to Ashleigh at A Touch Of Class Hair and Beauty for cutting the girls hair for free, since it is a charity event and for a great cause.”
