Five neighbours from the same street are celebrating a lottery windfall.

The residents of Wolseley Terrace, off Chester Road, Sunderland, are each £1,000 better off after their SR4 7HU postcode was chosen as a daily prize winner with the People’s Postcode Lottery on Thursday.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson has sent his best wishes to the winners.

He said: “What a great surprise for our winners. Congratulations to them and I hope they go and treat themselves with their winnings.”

The Sunderland street where five people have each enjoyed a four-figure lottery win.

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales from the lottery goes directly to charities and players have raised more than £600 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

The draw on Thursday, August 20, was promoted by Crisis, which has received more than £4.4 million in funding from the lottery to fight homelessness by helping around 100,000 people every year.
