The neighbours in Hardie Drive, West Boldon, both received £1,000 when their NE36 0HA postcode was announced as a daily prize winner with the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt said after the January 23 draw: “A big congrats to all of today’s daily prize winners.

The payout follows just weeks after six residents of Worm Hill Terrace, Washington, also received £1,000 each.

A minimum of 32% of postcode lottery ticket sales goes directly to charities and players have already raised more than £600 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Postcode Culture Trust, which has attempts to inspire learning, understanding and appreciation of science, music, arts and culture.
