Pupils told to stay at home tomorrow after ‘emergency plumbing issue’ at a Sunderland school

Year 8 and Year 9 at St Anthony’s Girl’s Catholic Academy will study remotely on Wednesday, June 16.

The school, in Thornhill Terrace, said that an ‘emergency plumbing issue’ has affected some of its buildings and Year 8 and 9 will not be able to attend in person tomorrow, June 16.

It added that plumbing engineers are dealing with the matter and it’s hoped the issue will be resolved ‘quickly’.

The school said: “Due to a serious emergency plumbing issue affecting some buildings Year 8 and Year 9 are unable to attend school in person on Wednesday, 16th June 2021.

"Emergency plumbing engineers are dealing with the matter which hopefully will be resolved quickly.

"Year 8 and Year 9 need to access their lessons via Frog Learning Platform on Wednesday, 16th June.

"All other years, and staff, to attend as normal.

"Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”

It added that the parents of the affected pupils are being informed via email.
