Talented photographer Josh Bewick from Red House has spent 2020 capturing the beauty of Wearside to create a collection of images for his 2021 Sunderland calendar.

From a sunset over Roker Pier to Penshaw Monument covered in snow, the beautiful shots hope to make people smile after what has been an incredibly difficult year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Josh, a support worker at Northview Lodge in Castletown, said that creating the calendar was a positive project to focus on during full lockdown, when national restrictions limited freedoms to just one form of exercise a day.

The 22-year-old said: “Creating the calendar has helped to keep my mind occupied. The photos have all been taken this year and throughout lockdown.

"During full lockdown I would go on my hour-long walk and take my camera with me to get the photos that you see on the calendar.

"It has been an awful year… so I hope that some of my photos make people smile.”

Josh, who is anticipating the arrival of his baby boy with girlfriend Brogan Wallis, 23, in November, has been delighted with the response to his calendar so far.

In less than a day of it going on sale via his Facebook page, Josh Bewick Photography, 80 calendars were sold, with more bought by the supportive residents in the care home where he works.

Copies of the calendars, which costs £9.99, are also available from Sunderland’s Castletown and Fulwell Post Offices.
