The charity, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair, is one close to Rebecca’s heart having had friends with young relatives who have battled cancer.

Rebecca entrusted Sunderland hairdresser Debra Anne Adamson, from Cloud 9 on Hylton Road, with the cut.

"The last time I had my hair cut short was eight years ago,” Rebecca said.

Rebecca, who is mum to four-year-old Henry, said her transformation has been met with praise from loved ones.

A fundraising page set up in support of the charity has raised £85 so far – and there’s still time to donate.

Rebecca said: “I don’t do things by halves! I couldn’t watch when it was being cut and I had tears in my eyes as it felt so emotional.
