Northern Spire, Penshaw Monument, the Beacon of Light, Keel Square and Fulwell Mill showed turned green for the first time on Thursday, April 30 as part of a new fortnightly tribute.

The landmarks will be lit in green every other Thursday as a mark of respect for the carers and other key workers, while they will continue to turn blue on alternate Thursdays for the NHS – and to coincide with the weekly Clap for Carers initiative.
