Speeding, driving on pavements and crashing into parked cars – the unacceptable driving found on one road in Peterlee

Police officers have received an array of reports of unacceptable driving on a non-through road in Peterlee.

The issues have been reported on Thorntree Gill which leads to East Field.

Peterlee Police officers have received several reports of cars, vans and heavy good vehicles using the road in an unacceptable way.

The reports include speeding, driving on pavements and, in one case, crashing into parked vehicles.

A spokesperson for Peterlee Police said: “This has caused great concern from local residents and is of course very dangerous to other road users and pedestrians.

“This is a non through road meaning that if you have no cause to be in this area it is an offence to drive straight through – clearly signposted at each end of the road when entering.”

Patrols are planned to be increased in this area and tickets will be handed to offenders.
