It bears the words ‘For the fallen, VE 75, lest we forget at the falling of the sun’.

The poignant tribute was written on Wednesday, May 7, in a bid to honour Victory in Europe (VE) Day on Friday, May 8, which many of us will be marking in our own homes due to the coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

The message was written in the sand by a member of the public taking their daily exercise and was captured by Echo reader Keiron Dixon.

Keiron wanted to share the tribute with the city who are staying united in keeping apart during the pandemic.
