See the giant sand poppy carved into Sunderland beach to mark Remembrance Sunday

Hide AdThanks too to pupils at George Washington Primary School for their poppy tribute at Holy Trinity Church, in High Usworth, Washington.


Teacher Nicola Parker said: “All poppies were made from plastic bottles and the children painted them with acrylic paint.”
While ongoing lockdown restrictions are preventing public services from taking place, we will be publishing a report and photos here from restricted ceremonies later on Remembrance Sunday.
The city is also marking Remembrance Sunday by lighting up landmarks and streets in red from today until Armistice Day November 11.
