Read the moving poem penned by Sunderland carer dedicated to her colleagues on the frontline
A Sunderland carer has gone above and beyond to show her appreciation to her hard-working colleagues.
Claire Seymour, an assistant care manager at Beckwith Mews in Silksworth, penned a poignant poem dedicated to her team as they continue to fight the coronavirus crisis.
The assisted living facility, which is managed by independent provider Housing 21, is home to around 30 residents.
Claire, who lives in east end of Sunderland, said she wanted to show the care staff “how much they are appreciated during this difficult time”.

“They’re all working extremely hard, covering when people are sick with Covid-19 and trying to keep life as normal as possible for the residents - especially as their families can’t visit,” she commented.

Times are hard we know this is true

Your management team are so grateful for you
We see you are tired as your resolve wears thin,
Picking up extra shifts and taking it on the chin.
You are an excellent team, no one can deny

We can’t thank you enough, no matter how much we try
Our residents are blessed to have you there
They see first hand just how much you care.Never let it be said that your work is unskilled
It takes love, patience, knowledge and those who are strong willed
If care work was easy everyone would do it
Always remember this as you push through it
Better days are coming for me and for you
You are the best team the whole way through!
