The award-winning hotel says it immediately carried out all the remedial work required after an inspection in January which led to them receiving a one-star food hygiene rating.

The hotel, which is home to a number of restaurants including the Rib Room and Fusion, says inspectors from Durham County Council have now confirmed that, following a reinspection, the high standards at Ramside has led to a rating of five stars – the highest possible.

The hotel also says it received 100% for its cleanliness and hygiene as well as an 100% score for the physical structure of the premises.

John Adamson, managing director of Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa, said he was delighted to have received the news.

“This is a very challenging time for the hospitality industry and we are very glad that the inspector knows we took his comments very seriously and immediately carried out all the necessary work,” he said.

“A five star rating reflects the standards that we have in place and we hope that this will reassure the public and our corporate clients that Ramside Hall Hotel is very much open for business.”

The rating has not yet been updated on the Food Standards Agency’s website but is expected to be changed next week.
