Police still investigating A690 crash which killed Sunderland dad Richie Jordan
An inquest has been adjourned into the death of a much-loved Sunderland dad as police inquiries continue.
Described as a ‘lovely lad’, dad-of-one Richie, is survived by his partner Carol and daughter Quinn.
Richie also played for the Henderson’s Sunday League Team for three seasons.
An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned at Sunderland Coroner’s Court in 2019 and a pre-inquest review was held at the same coroner’s court on Wednesday, February 12.
Sunderland's senior coroner Derek Winter adjourned the inquest until Wednesday, June 10, to allow police to continue with their inquiries.
Mr Winter said: “I opened the inquest last year and it has been adjourned so that police can conclude their inquiries.
“Until their inquiries are concluded I can’t make a decision about what to do with the inquest hearing.
“If the police proceed to make charges, then this inquest will be adjourned pending criminal proceedings.
“Until we get to that stage we can’t make a decision on what to do.”
Mr Winter adjourned the inquest until Wednesday, June 10, at Sunderland Coroner’s Court, pending police inquiries.
