The kind-hearted youngster left her mother stunned when she asked if she could have her hair cut and donate it ahead of an appointment at the hairdresser’s.

But she didn’t stop there and just an hour later asked whether she could donate some money as well. She managed to raise £230 in just three hours, before rising to over £450.

Now Emily’s mum, Stephanie Daws 30, has shared photos of the moment her daughter got her hair cut and has revealed details about the emotional experience on Friday, May 7.

The pictures show Emily’s hair before and after and capture the touching moment the little girl sees herself in the mirror for the first time after having 10 inches of her hair cut off.

Stephanie has said she doesn’t know how Emily got the idea for the donation, as neither her nor dad Matthew Johnson had suggested it to her.

She explained: "Emily is absolutely overwhelmed. She’s never taken her smile off her face since Friday.

"She’s so selfless. She’ll literally do anything to help anybody.

"I cried when she was getting her hair cut.

"Just for her to come and ask ‘Can I do that?’, I thought it’s amazing for a seven-year-old little girl.

"I was took by her saying that to us, because I’ve never mentioned anything, her dad’s never mentioned anything about it.”

The Blackhall Primary School pupil has told her mum she loves how easy her new haircut is to maintain.

Stephanie, who works as a cleaner, said: “She loves it, she says “It’s so much easier mum, I don’t cry on a morning when I get my hair combed anymore.’

"She’s really enjoying it. It’s a quick brush and she’s done, she says.”

Describing Emily as a ‘funny child’, she added: "She is constantly making everybody laugh, she’s a little character.”

Emily had her hair by Beckie French at Studio 31 in Blackhall and her locks and the money she has raised will be donated to the Little Princess Trust.
