Missing Sunderland man Jason Knowles found safe

A missing Sunderland man whose abandoned car was found by police has been found safe and well.

Jason Knowles had last been seen leaving an address in the Rotherham Road area of Hylton Red House shortly after midday yesterday, Wednesday, June 9.

His family had not heard from him since he left and police had found his vehicle abandoned in the Burnside Road area of Rowlands Gill in Gateshead.

Officers leading the search for Mr Knowles released a picture of the 47-year-old as they appealed for the public’s help to trace him.

But a statement from Northumbria Police late last night confirmed Mr Knowles had been located and was unharmed.

Officers thanked the public for their assistance and for circulating details of the missing person appeal.

“Missing Sunderland man Jason Knowles has been found safe and well,” said the statement.

"Thank you all for your support and for sharing this information.”
