Meet Roxy - the Sunderland Echo Top Pet competition winner
Fun-loving Staffy Roxy has been crowned the Sunderland Echo’s Top Pet after winning our reader vote.
The Echo launched a search to find Wearside’s cutest and funniest pets back in April and of all the entries, it was six-year-old Roxy who won our readers’ hearts.
Owner Tracy King, of Thorney Close, took Roxy home when she was just eight weeks old.

Tracy, who lives with partner Stephen Fraser, told the Echo: “I had always wanted a Staffy and she’s been a joy to have. She’s a character-and-a-half – and that’s an understatement.”
Tracy, mum to Kieran, 20, and 15-year-old Maddisan, said Roxy is a real fun-loving dog who enjoys a chat, even barking along in conversation with her family.

"She’s so clever and switched on, she's my little bairn.”

Roxy has had arthritis since she was a pup and suffered injuries after being run over two years ago.

Roxy also loves being in the car, spending time in the garden and her food – including her favourite snack, carrots.
Her victory in the Echo’s Top Pet competition means she’s won a £50 voucher for Pets at Home.
She’ll be getting her paws on some treats to celebrate and share with her sister dog – 11-year-old black Labrador Meg.
