Man suffers 'significant hand injury' following collision with bus in Sunderland street

A man was taken to hospital with a ‘significant’ injury to his hand following a collision involving a bus in Sunderland.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in the Holmeside area of Sunderland on Saturday night (June 12).

A man, in his 50s, was taken to Sunderland accident and emergency department with a significant injury to his hand after being treated by paramedics at the scene.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At 11.15pm on Saturday we received a report of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian in the Holmeside area of Sunderland.

“Emergency services attended and found a man in his 50s with a significant injury to his hand. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.

“The road was temporarily closed as the man received treatment but reopened approximately 90 minutes later.”
