Christopher James Morrison has been jailed by magistrates after breaching a restraining order for the third time in just over a month.

Magistrates decided to lock up Christopher James Morrison for 14 weeks as the offence was “so serious because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders”.

Morrison, 20, of The Hayat Express Hotel, in Shotton Colliery, admitted breaching the order by contacting two named people in South Shields on February 5.

He received eight weeks in prison for this latest offence and a further six weeks behind bars after he was re-sentenced for two previous breaches committed on December 28 last year and January 22.

Morrison, who also admitted failing to comply with a supervision order imposed following his release from a previous custodial sentence, was ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge by South Tyneside Magistrates Court at a rate of £20 per month from the beginning of May.
