Man found dead after falling from Sunderland's Wearmouth Bridge

Emergency services were called to Wearmouth Bridge to a report of concern for a man on the other side of the railings.

Sadly, a man was found at the foot of the bridge and was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after 6am on Thursday, February 20.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “It was reported that a man was on the wrong side of the railings before falling from the bridge.

“Emergency services were deployed and a man was located at the foot of the bridge and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“There is not believed to be any third party involvement at this time and a report has been prepared for the coroner.”
