A man has been brought to safety after emergency services were called to Wearmouth Bridge.

Northumbria Police were called to reports of concern for a man’s welfare on the busy Sunderland bridge.

Emergency services attended the scene and one lane was closed at around 3.15pm on Thursday, June 10.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "At 3.15pm today (Thursday) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a male on the Wearmouth Bridge, Sunderland.
