Major rail disruption between Sunderland and Middlesbrough after person dies on tracks
British Transport Police have confirmed that officers were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Stockton-On-Tees at 8.55am today.

Hide AdParamedics also attended, but one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
All lines were blocked while emergency services were called to the incident, with disruption expected to last until 2pm.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to the line in Stockton-On-Tees at 8.55am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Hide Ad“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are now working to identify them and establish the full circumstances of how they came to be on the tracks.”
Train operator Northern Rail has reported that there is major disruption to services as all lines are blocked while emergency services deal with the incident at Stockton.

Hide AdIn a statement on Twitter it said: “Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at Stockton all lines are blocked.
“Disruption is expected until 2pm.
“Ticket acceptance in place with Tyne and Wear Metro, LNER, Cross Country and Transpennine Express.”
