House builders Miller Homes are constructing 106 three, four and five-bedroom homes along with one, two and three-bedroom apartments at the private estate. Each type of home is named after a species of tree.

The estate is on the site of the old Lambton Lion Park, between Washington and Chester-le-Street.

At the top end of the price scale, the Aspen and Oak ranges, there is an asking price of £614,950 for five-bedroom, en-suite houses with double garages.

Three and four-bedroom homes, the Willow, Cedar, Juniper and Maple have walk-in wardrobes and French doors and are priced from £279,950.

One and two-bedroom apartments, the Hazelnut, Walnut and Birch are also available from £179,950. There are ground and first floor options to choose from and some come with an integral garage.

All the new homes can be upgraded further for an additional cost.

Homeowners will have access to nine miles of public footpaths which will be opened up, as well as retail and community space.

Funding from the development of is supporting conservation works across Lambton Park. This also includes the restoration of the Grade II* listed Lambton Castle and its stables, as well as the iconic Lamb Bridge.

The development is situated two miles from the A1 motorway, with easy access by road to Sunderland, Chester-le-Street and the Durham City.
