'He had the biggest heart' - Tributes paid to devoted Sunderland dad killed in A690 crash

Gary Sloan, 38, of Sunderland, was named as the driver of a black Ford Fiesta who died in the collision at Houghton Cut on Friday, August 16.

A touching family statement read: “Gary was loved by many and he was a devoted father to four beautiful daughters.

“He was a keen footballer and an avid supporter of Sunderland AFC.”

An investigation is being carried out to determine what happened before the crash
