Fundraiser set up in memory of 'gentle giant' Samuel Campbell after alleged Silksworth murder

Emergency services were called to Park Avenue in the Silksworth area of Sunderland shortly after 1am on Friday, June 18 to reports of an assault having taken place at a property.
Paramedics and police found 24-year-old Samuel Campbell with serious, life-threatening injuries, consistent with a stabbing.

Hide AdDespite attempts to save his life, he sadly died at the scene, prompting officers to launch a murder investigation.
A fundraiser has now been set up on Go Fund Me to help Samuel’s family with funeral costs. It has already raised £1,375 towards a target of £2,000.
The page said: "We are currently trying to raise funds to help the family of Samuel Campbell with the funeral costs, in the wake of the tragic events that happened early hours of Friday, June 18.
"We are extremely grateful for any donations.”

"He cared deeply for his friends and family. Sam possessed many admirable qualities, he loved being the life and soul of the party.
"He always had people on the tiki fire shots and loved a good boogie.
"He was such a gentle giant and was always there for anyone that needed him, even those he hadn't seen for a while.
"He always gave the best hugs with those long arms.

Following Sam’s death, police have charged his brother William, 25, with his murder – he is set to appear at Newcastle Crown Court today, Tuesday, June 22.
It is understood that specialist officers from Northumbria Police are continuing to work with and support Sam’s family at this difficult time.
