Fund set up in memory of Alex Liddle tops target of £5,000 in just two days

The 23-year-old was reported missing on Friday, January 3, but police confirmed the devastating news that Alex’s body had been found in the early hours of Sunday, January 5.

Touching tributes poured in for the ‘loving family man’ as a online fundraising page was set up in the Seaham man’s memory.

The Go Fund Me page, which was set up by Cal Little, said: “We have set up this page to raise funds for a memorial for our good friend Alex Liddle, he was a loving family man who cherished his family, girlfriend and friends.

“This money will go towards keeping his memory alive forever. He will always be in our hearts. We love you Alex.

“Thank you in advance for any contributions.”

Northumbria Police confirmed that a body of a man was found at Kielder Water at about 4.15am on Sunday morning.

A force spokesman said: “There is not believed to have been any third party involvement in Alex’s death and a report has been prepared for the coroner.

“Our thoughts remain with Alex’s family at this difficult time.”
