2. Fairy Trail, Backhouse Park
An historic city park has been sprinkled with magic thanks to a new Fairy Trail. Much work has been done lately to enhance Backhouse Park in Ashbrooke with litter picks, planting and improved signage. Now, visitors young and old have been enchanted by a Fairy Trail. The trail starts near the Ryhope Road entrance to the park and people can follow the clues to find fairy homes hanging from trees, as well as tiny doors tucked into spaces at ground level. There’s even some eco-friendly glitter on the pathways to help you find the fairies. The trail is free. Photo: JPI Media

4. Welcome Back Trail, Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens
To welcome people back, the Museum & Winter Gardens has created a special family trail with 10 clues. Near each clue, there will be an object that visitors have missed the most during lockdown following an online vote. People will be invited to try some creative activities inspired by what they find and collect a letter at each clue to spell a word. The Welcome Back Trail will be free for families to pick up from the Visitor Services Desk at the Main entrance to the Museum. Families who complete the trail and unscramble the word can enter a prize draw to win Museum goody bags full of art materials. Photo: JPI Media
